Liz McCartney is a social entrepreneur and nonprofit executive known for her work in disaster recovery and resilience. As the co-founder and COO of SBP, Inc., she led a team that built over 7,000 homes and affordable housing units in disaster-impacted areas, led cross-functional teams in developing and executing multi-year strategic plans and budgets, while helping to raise over $400 million from public and private sources to support low-capacity frontline communities facing or recovering from disasters. She is particularly proud of innovations in revenue generation, grantmaking, strategic partnerships, and affordable housing.
Liz brings a track record of scaling impact, driving innovation, and fostering continuous improvement. Her expertise spans risk management, board governance, philanthropic advising, strategic planning, program development, affordable housing development, and fundraising. As a Toyota Production System practitioner, Liz is passionate about problem-solving and efficiency. She thrives in dynamic environments, always seeking new ways to create positive change with a client-centered approach.
Liz and her team at SBP have earned numerous awards, including being named a CNN Hero of the Year, featured on the cover of US News and World Report Magazine, and honored as a White House Champion of Change. Liz also led the development of Louisiana's first Net Zero apartment building, which received the HUD Secretary's Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships.
Liz holds a B.A. from Boston College and an M.A. from The George Washington University. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Muhlenberg College and an Urban Innovation Fellow at Tulane University, and completed the Strategic Perspectives on Nonprofit Management program at Harvard Business School.

As Founder Emeritus and former CEO of SBP, Zack led the organization's growth from a single-site initiative into an international force focused on climate change, resilience, and disaster recovery. Under his leadership, SBP raised over $400 million from public and private sources, showcasing Zack's skill in building impactful, cross-sector partnerships.
Innovation is central to Zack's work. His partnership with Toyota, which resulted in SBP becoming the first non-profit Toyota Showcase Company, exemplifies his belief in adopting and adapting best practices across sectors. Zack's approach is grounded in innate curiosity, a foundational belief in human potential, and a talent for creating win-win relationships.
Zack's insights and experiences have made him a high-leverage advisor to state and federal policymakers, corporate leaders, and boards. Zack has talked about leadership, innovation and culture to leadership groups at many corporations, including UPS, Toyota, Zurich, Farmers, Bank of America, and Turner.
Beyond his professional achievements, Zack serves on the Board of the Martha's Vineyard Regional Hospital, is President of the East Chop Tennis Club, and is a World Economic Forum Schwab Fellow. He divides his time between Puerto Rico and Massachusetts, where he lives with his wife (and co-founder) and son.
